TOKYO, Nov. 14, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Semtech Corporation (Nasdaq:SMTC), a leading supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors,
will provide an in-depth update into the current state of UHD-SDI standardization activities as well as provide technical
implementation details for next-generation UHD-SDI broadcast architectures during a seminar at the International Broadcast Equipment Exhibition (Inter BEE). John Hudson, Director of Strategic
Technology for Semtech’s Signal Integrity Product Group, will lead the seminar in room 103 at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo on November

SDI is the ideal interface for next-generation media streaming, and it is continuously evolving as the broadcast
industry continues to demand higher data rates and new formats. The flexible nature of SDI allows it to universally transport media
from standard definition (SD) to ultra-high definition (UHD) without overhauling infrastructure, reducing cost and technical risk.
The presentation will focus on UHD-SDI standardization and technology, including next-generation ultra-high definition (UHD), high
dynamic range (HDR), high frame rate (HFR) and wide color gamut (WGC) broadcast television infrastructures.
“Broadcasters require a robust, backwards compatible, standardized interface for their next-generation studio
infrastructures,” said Hudson. “UHD-SDI is the ideal interface for the broadcast studio as the industry continues to embrace
emerging UHD-1, UHD-2, HDR, HFR and WGC services.”
Hudson has over 30 years of experience in the broadcast industry and is an active member of SMPTE, having authored
several SMPTE standards, served as chair for working groups focused on SDI, and won the Excellence in Standards and SMPTE Journal
Awards.
Comprehensive Show Activities
The presentation during the show complements Semtech’s other planned activities at Inter BEE. Semtech will exhibit its
comprehensive portfolio of 12G UHD-SDI broadcast semiconductor products, including the award-winning GS12070 Gearbox and GS12090
configurable retiming cable equalizer and cable driver, in booth 5501. Other demonstrations include the GS12141 retiming adaptive
cable equalizer and GS12181 retiming cable driver. Contact meetings@semtech.com to request a meeting at Inter BEE.
About Semtech Broadcast Products
Semtech’s UHD-SDI products feature ultra-low power consumption and provide industry-leading performance at up to 12Gbps rates.
UHD-SDI is ideal for UHDTV infrastructures that include routers, cameras, monitors, switchers and more. It offers pristine image
quality, is backwards compatible with existing SDI systems and is standardized by both SMPTE and the International
Telecommunication Union (ITU), simplifying UHDTV infrastructure upgrades and reducing risk for broadcasters.
