Worst Performing Industries For November 23, 2016

The Dow rose 0.11 percent 19,045.03, while the NASDAQ composite index dropped 0.41 percent to 5,364.20. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 0.18 percent to 2,199.05.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Diversified Computer Systems: This industry slipped 2.7 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was HP Inc (NYSE: HPQ), which fell 3.5 percent. HP reported Q4 adjusted earnings of $0.36 per share on revenue of $12.5 billion.
  • Foreign Utilities: This industry declined 2.2 percent by 11:00 am with Kenon Holdings Ltd (NYSE: KEN) moving down 3.9 percent. Kenon shares have dropped 11.97 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 5.58 percent in the same period.
  • Silver: The industry dropped 2 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Silver Standard Resources Inc. (USA) (NASDAQ: SSRI), which declined 8.2 percent. Silver futures dropped 2.9 percent to trade at $16.26 an ounce.
  • Gold: This industry fell 1.6 percent by 11:00 am ET. Kinross Gold Corporation (USA) (NYSE: KGC) shares dropped 9.3 percent in today's trading. Gold futures fell 2.4 percent to trade at $1,185.30 an ounce.
