At 10:30 am, the Dow fell 0.15 percent to 19,124.30, the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index moved down 0.14 percent to 2,210.31 and the NASDAQ composite index dropped 0.09 percent to 5,394.34.

The industries that are still afloat in the market today are:

  • Publishing - Periodicals: This industry gained 1.1 percent by 10:30 am. The top stock within the industry was Time Inc (NYSE: TIME), which gained 17.9 percent. Time rejected an $18 per share bid from Edgar Bronfman Jr., the New York Post reported.
  • Foreign Utilities: This industry rose 1 percent by 10:30 am ET. The top performer in this industry was CPFL Energia S.A. (ADR) (NYSE: CPL), which gained 1 percent. CPFL Energia shares have surged 79.71 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 6.39 percent in the same period.
  • REIT - Residential: The industry gained 0.6 percent by 10:30 am. The top performer in this industry was Reven Housing Reit Inc (NASDAQ: RVEN) which gained 6.5 percent.
  • Building Materials Wholesale: This industry moved up 0.5 percent by 10:30 am. The top performer in this industry was Louisiana-Pacific Corporation (NYSE: LPX), which rose 1 percent.
