Award of Four New Patents Bolsters SuperCom's Patent Portfolio to 115 Approved Patents

PR Newswire

HERZLIYA, Israel, December 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --

SuperCom (NASDAQ: SPCB), a global provider of secure solutions for the e-Government, Public Safety, HealthCare and Finance sectors announced today that SuperCom subsidiary, Alvarion, a global provider of wireless broadband products and Wi-Fi networks, has been awarded strategic patents that optimize and enhance the performance of cellular networks and improve cellular coverage within enterprises and other closed, indoor structures.

A short description of the four new patents and their coverage is below:

1. Method and System for Managing a Wireless Network Comprising a Distributed Antenna System (DAS)

This new patent covers technology related to minimizing errors in a condensed environment of multiple transmitters sending wireless signals to cellular endpoints on the same frequency. This new technology uses return signals to synchronize multiple, simultaneous communication channels.

2. Wireless over Passive Optical Network (PON)

This wireless patent covers solutions providing cellular reception in offices and/or tunnels where wireless signals cannot flow freely. The idea is to utilize a PON to bring the signal "inside the office or tunnel" and then use RF technology to send the signal to standard RF based cellular phones.

3. Method for Transmitting Communications in Wireless Network Re-Use Schemes

This key patent covers technology in cellular transmission that includes the use of multi channels in multi frequencies, thus solving the issue of inter cell interference.

4. OFDMA-based operation of a wireless subscriber terminal in a plurality of cells

This patent involves the central piece of the LTE communication path that teaches performance enhancement of wireless systems by processing multiple streams at the same time and/or multiple streams in different sub-frames of the same radio frame.

Mr. Arie Trabelsi, SuperCom President and CEO commented, "These recently awarded patents validate the strength and uniqueness of the Alvarion technology and our position in the market as a leading global provider of Secured and Safe Connectivity products and solutions. Our portfolio of 115 patents covers a wide range of innovative and cutting-edge cyber, data security and cellular and wireless communication solutions and provides us with the protection necessary to advance our position in the global Secured and Safe Connectivity market."
