As Founder and President of the Pentagram Research Centre in Hyderabad, India, Dr. Rajan was presented the Gold Medal for his lifetime achievement in Teaching, Research and Industrial Development by former Indian President, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, in 2015. HMNY and Zone expect Dr. Rajan’s groundbreaking research in the fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning and his current impact on the field of computer vision to significantly enhance the functionality and reach of RedZone Map, merging RedZone Map’s currently available real time crime data reporting and safer navigation features with data science and technology.

RedZone Map expects to gain an immeasurable advantage from this liaison. Dr. Rajan is a leader in the field of computer vision, a discipline that “teaches” computers to gain insight and understanding enabling them to extract data from the “real world” for which they produce numeric or symbolic information. As a result, HMNY and Zone expect that Dr. Rajan’s expertise will enable RedZone Map to further analyze, forecast and present its crime data to users in a way never before possible.

Dr. Rajan has authored multiple books including Symbolic Computing – Signal and Image Processing, Electronic Order of Battle Records of Military Radars, Computers and Information Technology and Foundations of Information Technology.

“When I first developed RedZone Map, I saw it as an advanced crime data visualization tool for users to enhance their personal safety and come together to take back their communities,” said Ted Farnsworth, Chairman of the Board of HMNY. “But now, with Dr. Rajan’s input in the area of machine learning, the app is taking on a life of its own, engaging scientific principles and merging them with the safety concerns of our users to create a more dynamic and responsive solution. This metamorphosis is amazing to me. Getting the app to this point was on my wish list, but now with Dr. Rajan’s input, it is coming to fruition.”

“When we initially looked at RedZone Map, we immediately recognized that it had great potential and reach,” said Pat Krishnan, CEO of HMNY. It is no surprise to me that its ongoing development has brought us to this point, attracting a world class scientist with Dr. E. G. Rajan’s credentials. We know the app and I know the man, as I am privileged to have him as my mentor. I believe having Dr. Rajan join us as the founding member and Chair of our Science & Technology Development Board will allow RedZone Map to achieve the scientific importance it rightfully deserves.”

“The unpredictable, yet scientifically explainable is what has steered my career over 35 years.” Said Dr. Rajan. I see the impending inclusion of scientific principles into RedZone Map’s technology as less of a task and more as a labor of love. I look forward to continuing with Mr. Farnsworth and Mr. Krishnan in developing the app’s scientific potential and bringing that achievement to users around the world.”
