Execs Giving CES Keynote Speeches Could Create Volatility For Shareholders

JNJ, QCOM, EXPE, CMCSA, NSANY, NVDA, CCL, UA

The Consumer Electronics Show, currently underway in Las Vegas, is a marque show for innovative consumer technologies that creates ripples in the equity markets. Keynote speeches and the C Space Keynote Fireside Chat part of the event showcase global industry leaders, offering insider insights into the technologies changing the industry and lives.

This time around, several executives came on board. Watch out for moves in shares of the companies that have their executives delivering keynote speeches or taking part in the C Space Keynote Panel:

Nvidia And Carnival

NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA)'s founder and CEO Jen-Hsun Huang delivered a keynote address on Wednesday wherein he made three major announcements.

The announcement did not cut much ice with investors, as the shares are reacting with a steep downward move.

Carnival Corp (NYSE: CCL)'s president and CEO Arnold Donald presented a keynote address on Thursday morning. A day ahead, the company announced plans to give its passengers high-tech wearable wristbands called Medallion that could be used to unlock their room, purchase food and pay to play games such as blackjack.

The stock rose over 1 percent on Wednesday and were seen trading with gains in excess of 2 percent on Thursday.

Expedia, Johnson & Johnson, Comcast, Fox And Nissan

The C Space Keynote Fireside Chat, with an exclusive interview with Barry Diller, chairman and chief executive of Expedia Inc (NASDAQ: EXPE), moderated by Michael Kassan, chairman and CEO of MediaLink, was scheduled for Thursday late morning. The session explored the ways digital technology continues to disrupt the industry, which has in turn driven new ways to produce, distribute and monetize content across the media landscape.

Expedia shares were moderately higher on Thursday.

The C Space Keynote Panel Thursday saw top marketing executives participating in a panel discussion moderated by Wenda Harris Millard, president and chief operating officer of MediaLink. Keynote panel participants included Alison Lewis, chief marketing officer, Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ); Jim Norton, chief business officer and president of revenue, Condé Nast; Linda Yaccarino, chairman of advertising sales & client partnerships, Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ: CMCSA)'s NBCUniversal; Randy Freer, president and COO, FOX Networks Group of Twenty-First Century Fox Inc (NASDAQ: FOXA) and Roel de Vries, corporate vice president, global head of marketing, communications and brand strategy, Nissan Motor Co Ltd (ADR) (OTC: NSANY). Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group, presented a keynote presentation Thursday afternoon. Nissan's chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn is scheduled to make a keynote presentation between 4 and 5 p.m. on Thursday. Ghosn is expected to unveil a vision of the world made better by the latest automotive technology innovations.

Qualcomm And Under Armour

Steve Mollenkopf, CEO of QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ: QCOM) will be presenting a keynote between 9 and 10 a.m. on Friday. Under Armour Inc (NYSE: UAA) (NYSE: UA.C) founder and CEO Kevin Plank will discuss the brand's learnings from the 180 million members of its digital health and fitness community and how technology will shape athletic performance and lifestyle in the years to come. Plank is set to make a keynote presentation between 3 and 4 p.m. on Friday.
