(NASDAQ: PZZA) and Yum! Brands, Inc. (NYSE:
YUM)’s Pizza Hut offered discounts or other promotions.
Some local hubs and national chains take the celebration a step further with entirely free products. With a coupon off their
social media sites, fans of Einstein Bros. Bagels and Pilot Flying J pizza can snag a snack on-the-house.
There are scores of national food days devoted to obscure or less widely appreciated foods — Blueberry Popover Day? Baked
Scallops Day? — and they’re celebrated only by local or regional restaurants.

Dairy Queen twists are “free” — for a donation to Children’s Miracle Network.

Carvel Corporation offers buy-one-get-one soft-serve on a yet-unannounced date.
Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day - April 12
The Unilever plc (ADR) (NYSE: UL) brand offers
as many free cones as you’re willing to wait in line for.
National Pretzel Day - April 26
Auntie Anne’s, Inc. offers free pretzels for those who download the app before the end of April 25. Historically, Wetzel’s
Pretzels, LLC offers free original pretzels without condition.
Free Cone Day - Second Tuesday in May
Haagen Dazs, a brand of General Mills, Inc. (NYSE: GIS), has offered a free scoop over the past few years and is expected to continue its
tradition.
National Donut Day - First Friday of June
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts (NYSE: KKD) are free
without condition, while Dunkin Brands Group Inc (NASDAQ: DNKN)’s Dunkin Donuts are free with a beverage purchase.
Cow Appreciation Day - second Tuesday in July
Anyone wearing cow-like apparel score a Chick-Fil-A entree.
Free Slurpee Day - July 11
To celebrate the namesake, 7-Eleven gives away mini slurpees all day.
National Root Beer Float Day - Aug. 6
A&W Restaurants root beer floats are free from 2 p.m. to close.
National Coffee Day - Sept. 29
In the past, Krispy Kreme has offered free coffee and donuts, Dunkin’ Donuts marketed coffee for 66 cents, and Le Pain Quotidien
offered the beverage half off.
National Taco Day - Oct. 4
On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina provided $0.50 mini tacos, Del Taco Restaurants Inc (NASDAQ: LEVYU) offered three tacos for $1.29, and Qdoba gave free chips and
salsa to new rewards members.
National Sandwich Day - Nov. 3
Subway, Schlotzsky’s and Penn Station Inc have previously offered buy-one-get-one deals, while Jersey Mike’s offers social media
fans $2 off regular subs.
