SARNIA, ON, March 9, 2017 /CNW/ - Today, Fabien Jagoo received The Co-operators Community Achievement Award for his outstanding community involvement. The award was created to honour Co-operators financial advisors who demonstrate outstanding support for the community in which they work, both through financial aid and volunteerism.

Fabien Jagoo, a Co-operators financial advisor in Sarnia, was named the Community Achievement Award winner for the North East West Ontario region. Jagoo is an outgoing and passionate advisor who is involved in his community in a wide range of activities. His main charity, and one that is close to his heart, is Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Three of his children are afflicted with the disease and he has put his energy into supporting the search for a cure. For the past eight years, the Jagoo Agency has organized a large charity BBQ and Silent Auction which has raised more than $300,000 for Cystic Fibrosis. Each year, Fabien also hosts and DJs two cruises (one for children and one for adults) to raise funds for CF.

In addition, Jagoo supports Junior Achievement, the Awesome Foundation, MADD, the Kidney Foundation, St. Joseph's Hospice, the Canadian Cancer Society and the YMCA, as well as supporting families in need at Christmas time. Each year, Fabien and his team shuttle seniors from their cars to the arena for the Home Show.

"To say I am humbled is an understatement. I am so glad that The Co-operators has given me a platform to truly help others in my community. Putting others first and giving back is a true value that I have learned from the last 25 years being employed and involved with The Co-operators. This award only reiterates that my team and I are doing the right things for the community," said Jagoo.

As a co-operative, The Co-operators adheres to the seven international co-operative principles, one of which is "concern for community." The organization's 500 financial advisors are instrumental in converting this principle into action in communities across Canada. Jagoo's genuine concern for the well-being of his community, as evidenced by his record of involvement and support for local causes, embodies this principle.
