Duggirala and her teams will oversee all aspects of application development, corporate computing, information security and information technology governance at Regions. Duggirala will report to John Owen, head of the company’s Regional Banking Group.

“Technology is consistently transforming how people and businesses manage their finances, and as a company, Regions continues to evolve how we serve our customers,” Owen said. “Amala’s experience in developing payment technology between consumers and retailers, as well as her leadership in building large-scale, high-performing systems, will support Regions’ commitment to product development and innovation. She has the insights and experience to help us anticipate both consumer and operational needs, and she has the expertise to help us deliver modern financial services in a convenient, secure and reliable way.”

Duggirala has held senior technology roles in financial firms for several years, having most recently served as Chief Technology Officer for online small-business lender Kabbage. There, she led the technology team’s efforts in advancing the scalability of the Kabbage platform to drive lending for organizations worldwide.

Previously, Duggirala served as Executive Vice President of Application Development at ACI Worldwide, a global provider of electronic payment and banking services. At ACI, she was responsible for the architecture, development and delivery of nearly 30 products in the consumer and commercial-payments space. She was also recognized by the industry publication PaymentsSource as one of the Most Influential Women in Payments.

Duggirala’s experience also includes roles at British Telecom, CenturyLink and Modis Consulting. She holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nebraska Omaha. Duggirala also studied at Osmania University in Hyderabad, India.

“In recent years, Regions has introduced new and enhanced digital services that are benefitting consumers while affirming to the industry that Regions is committed to innovation, and that’s what attracted me to this role,” Duggirala said. “I look forward to combining my background with the experience and insights of Regions’ teams as we work together on consistently evolving our systems and services in support of helping customers reach their financial goals.”
