Apple Investors: Celebrate iPhone's 10th Birthday With These Rumors

AAPL, SSNLF

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) will be celebrating with hundreds of millions of people the 10-year anniversary of the iPhone's initial release. To mark the occasion, Apple is reportedly set to launch three new iPhone devices in the coming months.

Happy Birthday!

According to a Bloomberg report, Apple could launch a brand new top-of-the-line iPhone with an overhauled look along with two upgraded versions of current models.

The redesigned iPhone could boast a new type of screen along with curved glass and stainless steel materials along with a move advanced camera. The iPhone could also have a home button that is integrated into the screen itself, which cuts back on the overall screen size and also copies Samsung Electronic (OTC: SSNLF)'s new flagship S8 which is seeing strong pre-order sales.

However, this device isn't expected to launch until one to two months after the fall introduction. The Bloomberg report suggests Apple's suppliers are struggling to produce curved glass in mass quantities. As such, the company is also testing a simpler design with an aluminum back instead of glass.

Nevertheless, expectations are extremely high for Apple as the iPhone is Apple's cash cow as it accounts for around two-thirds of total sales.

"This fall, it would be three years since we had a remarkable shift in iPhone hardware. This raises expectations for this year's phone having a material change in functionality and look," Gene Munster, the notable Apple analyst turned venture capitalist, told Bloomberg. "The Samsung Galaxy S8 raises the bar for Apple to hit a home run."
