PECO Employees Give Back to the Community by Leading More Than 35 Community Service Projects for National Volunteer Week

Employees from across PECO advanced the local region and celebrated National Volunteer Week by participating in more than 35 employee-led service projects across southeastern Pennsylvania. Throughout the week, more than 700 employees volunteered 2,500 hours in the communities where they live and work. These projects included renewing green spaces, serving meals to families in need, and educating children about science.

“Through our service projects, we are proud to support so many local nonprofit organizations that make our communities a better place for our customers,” said Romona Riscoe Benson, Director of Corporate Relations at PECO. “Our employee volunteerism with local nonprofits and civic organizations extends well beyond National Volunteer Week, and will remain a guiding principle of our company.”

Some highlights from PECO’s National Volunteer Week projects include:

  • April 24 – Employees joined the Riverbend Environmental Center to perform planting and weeding to restore the area and help enhance the habitat for local wildlife
  • April 25 – Employees revitalized wetlands to support habitat management at the Natural Lands Trusts Stroud Preserve
