FOX News Channel Announces Plans for State of the Art Newsroom
Network to Increase Newsgathering Footprint across All Platforms
FOX News Channel (FNC) announced today that it will unveil a new cutting-edge, centralized newsroom in early 2018, featuring an
open concept floorplan designed to enhance communication and creativity among the programming, news and digital teams. The design
will incorporate all newsgathering resources as FNC moves forward with plans to hire new journalists and content creators to
broaden the scope and depth of reporting across all platforms.
The announcement was made by Rupert Murdoch, Executive Chairman of 21st Century FOX during a company-wide address at FNC
Headquarters today, which showcased construction plans and digital renderings of the new space. Joining Mr. Murdoch were: FNC
Co-President Jack Abernethy; President of Programming Suzanne Scott; President of News Jay Wallace; and Senior Vice President of
Technical Operations & Engineering, Warren Vandeveer, who is overseeing the project.
In making the announcement, Mr. Murdoch said, “Today we are unveiling the physical transformation of our newsroom and the FOX
News offices at our Headquarters in New York. It will be state of the art and open, befitting the most important media outlet in
America. This is a major investment in the future of FOX News and a sign of my unwavering confidence.”
Ms. Scott added, “When we met with the designers, we relayed the need to create a cohesive space that reflected a modern
newsroom in this new era of information. We are committed to ensuring the entire team here has all the necessary resources to
continue keeping us ahead of the competition as we invest in the future of FOX News.”
Mr. Wallace said, “The overall objective of this design is to increase collaboration and strengthen our depth of reporting
across all platforms. To that end, we are hiring new journalists and content creators as we expand our newsgathering unit and
enhance our digital footprint.”
An expanded studio will be incorporated into the upgraded space, allowing reporters immediate access to multiple cameras during
breaking news situations. Additionally, the newsroom will feature large data screens and a video ribbon enabling a constant
delivery of information. Construction will begin on July 1st and be completed in four phases.
