Sallie Mae Wins Multiple Hermes Creative Awards

Company Awarded Multiple Platinum and Gold Awards for Marketing and Digital Strategy

Sallie Mae, the nation’s saving, planning, and paying for college company, today announced it has earned multiple Hermes Creative Awards. Sallie Mae received accolades for campaigns focused on planning for college and financial literacy and the recent redesign of SallieMae.com.

Specifically, Sallie Mae was honored for its collaboration with educator-turned-hip-hop-artist Dee-1. The company earned Platinum Awards for the Dee-1 “Knowledge for College” tour, which awarded $95,000 in scholarships to high school students across the country, and the “Pays to Repay” contest, which paid off Sallie Mae eligible loans for five deserving students. The Sallie Mae and Dee-1 “Pay Off Your Student Loans Playlist” received a Gold Award.

In addition, Sallie Mae’s financial literacy video series, “Know Before You Borrow,” and the recently redesigned SallieMae.com, were recognized with Platinum Awards. The company also received Gold Awards for copy and design of the redesigned SallieMae.com. Sallie Mae’s “Make College Happen Challenge” and a video Dee-1 campaign were given Honorable Mentions.

“Every day, our creative team members paint the story of Sallie Mae on a canvas of visual platforms such as webpages, videos, posters, and social and digital media,” said Martha Holler, senior vice president, Sallie Mae. “These awards underscore our mission to create and deliver innovative, customer-focused campaigns that help families make college happen.”

The Hermes Creative Awards honors creative professionals involved in the concept, writing, and design of marketing and communication materials for external or internal audiences. Administered and judged by senior-level, experienced professionals from the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP), entries are organized into nearly 200 categories and ranked on creativity as well as available resources, based on the capacity of the individuals, companies, and organizations who enter the competition.
