Partners Value Investments LP Announces 2017 First Quarter Results
TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 30, 2017) - Partners Value Investments LP (the "Partnership") (TSX VENTURE:PVF) announced
today its financial results for the three months ended March 31, 2017. All amounts are stated in US dollars.
The Partnership recorded an increase in net book value during the first quarter of $288 million ($3.91 per unit) to $2.3
billion ($30.87 per unit). The increase is primarily due to unrealized gains on the Partnership's investment portfolio and an
increase in the quoted market price of Brookfield Asset Management common shares. The market price of a Brookfield share
increased from $32.96 per share at December 31, 2016 to $36.46 per share at March 31, 2017.
Net income for the quarter was $19 million, of which $13 million was attributable to the Equity Limited Partners ($0.18 per
Equity LP unit), down from $21 million in the prior year quarter. This decrease was due to foreign exchange losses compared to
foreign exchange gains in the prior year quarter, partially offset by increased investment income and valuation gains.
