Sinclair Names Dan Barnathan VP Family and Children's Programming and Sales; Jonathan Dern Executive Producer

BALTIMORE, June 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: SBGI), today announced the following executive appointments overseeing Sinclair's children and family programming, KidsClick, a daily national programming block for young viewers launching Saturday, July 1, 2017 across 75 million U.S. TV homes.  Daniel Barnathan has been named Vice President Family and Children's Programming and Sales.  Mr. Barnathan will have direct oversight of KidsClick.  Jonathan Dern has been named Executive Producer and will oversee and manage KidsClick Programming, Promotion and Operations.

The announcements were made by Steve Marks, EVP & COO of Sinclair's television group. "We are excited about the announced executive appointments," said Mr. Marks. "Dan and Jonathan bring years of experience in the kids content space that we believe will allow us to better serve our multiplatform viewers through high-quality, age-appropriate content delivered in an exciting way."

Mr. Barnathan has been a leader in the kid's programming marketplace in a variety of areas including TV, digital, social, mobile and data for over 25 years.  He specializes in launching and managing the strategic development and oversight of kid-focused content. Previously, he led high-performing teams at a variety of companies including Disney Kids, Saban Brands and 4Kids Entertainment (the CW and Fox TV Kids assets and their associated websites).  Mr. Barnathan will continue to be responsible for program acquisition and line-up optimization to best maximize program revenue while seeking licensing and merchandising opportunities.

Mr. Dern is an entertainment industry and kids and family programming veteran who has produced over 1,300 episodes of branded television and over 30 features. His expertise spans network distribution as founder of Kidtoon Films, the in-theater network for families. Mr. Dern previously served as head of Cinedigm's Entertainment Group and SD Entertainment. Along with his partner, Paul Sabella, Mr. Dern built both SD Entertainment and MGM Animation as the go-to studios for brand strategy and production in the kid's animation business.
