Constellation Names Chicago Charities to Receive Donations as Part of 2018 Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS
Championship
Competitive energy company supports championship tradition of giving back through $500,000 in funding to
nonprofit organizations
Constellation today announced that it will provide $500,000 in grants to five Chicagoland charities focused on
education, youth development and affordable housing as part of this year’s Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship, which will be held July 9-15 at Exmoor Country Club in Highland Park,
Ill. The 2018 Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship, conducted by the Western Golf Association and PGA TOUR Champions, will mark the first time since 1997 that one of the five senior major championships has been
held in the greater Chicago area.
“Giving back to the communities in which we live and work is an integral part of Constellation’s culture and an important part
of the Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship,” said Mark Huston, president of Constellation Retail. “Constellation and our
parent company, Exelon, have a long history of serving Chicago and the surrounding region, so we are pleased to support
organizations that are making a positive impact in the area.”
Located throughout the Chicagoland area, the 2018 charities are:
Big Shoulders Fund, which supports inner-city Chicago schools and programs that ensure students receive a strong
academic foundation in elementary school, enroll in quality, college prep high schools, enroll and persist in college, and lead
productive lives as adults;
Evans Scholars Foundation, which provides full tuition and housing college scholarships to golf caddies that
have an excellent high school academic record and significant financial need;
Girls in the Game, which empowers every girl to find her voice, discover her strength and lead with confidence
through fun sports, health and leadership programs;
Habitat for Humanity Chicago, which partners with committed residents and trusted organizations to help families
and communities achieve strength, stability and self-reliance through housing, beautification and development projects; and
Special Olympics Chicago, the Chicago branch of the largest program for sports training and athletic competition
for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
“The most rewarding aspect of this Championship is being able to leave a charitable footprint in the Chicago community,” said
Vince Pellegrino, senior vice president of tournaments for the Western Golf Association, which is conducting this year’s
Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship. “Thanks to our title sponsor, Constellation, our championship volunteers, and other
efforts, we are able to support these wonderful causes."
The Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS has donated more than $11 million to charity since 1992. Through its sponsorship of the SENIOR
PLAYERS Championship, Constellation has contributed $5 million since 2007 to nonprofit organizations located in the event’s host
cities, including Pittsburgh, Boston, Philadelphia and Baltimore.
