Hitachi Deploys Okta to Securely Enable Access for its Global Workforce
Technology Giant Has Deployed Hundreds of Apps for Over 300,000 Employees through Okta
Okta, Inc. (NASDAQ:OKTA), the leading independent provider of identity for the enterprise, today announced that Hitachi Group
has successfully implemented the Okta Identity Cloud to increase agility and securely consolidate the access experience across its
hundreds of global business units. Today, Okta also unveiled
financial results for its fourth fiscal quarter and announced new or expanded deployments in Q4 FY2019 with Australia Post,
Cengage, Peet’s Coffee, Phillips 66, Texas Workforce Commission, Tyson, and Qdoba.
“Working across hundreds of business units and hundreds of thousands of workers presents all kinds of challenges in the modern
technology landscape, and it requires a very clear and forward-looking approach to identity,” said Todd McKinnon, CEO and
co-founder, Okta. “As a global leader, Hitachi is leveraging a variety of cloud and hybrid technologies to drive innovation
forward, and it’s relying on the Okta Identity Cloud to provide a seamless, secure experience for its employees. We’re honored to
help Hitachi continue to adopt and adapt the technology it needs, creating efficiencies and opportunities across its
workforce.”
In its 108 years of history, Hitachi has grown from building five horsepower motors to operating nearly 900 different companies
including electronics, IT, power and transportation technologies. With hundreds of thousands of employees worldwide, Hitachi has
recognized the need for a modern solution to centralize its identity and access management through a secure and flexible system
that enables new technology and scalable provisioning. Using Okta’s identity solutions, Hitachi has been able to replace legacy
systems, consolidate its access experience for employees and suppliers, and streamline technology adoption cycles. Hitachi also
uses the Okta Identity Cloud with its HR systems to automate provisioning and deprovisioning and reduce manual tasks. Beyond
becoming an Okta customer, Hitachi Group subsidiary Hitachi Solutions became the first distributor of Okta in Japan in September
2018.
“Hitachi has been the home of superior, original technology products for over 100 years, building a global organization and
brand,” said Ashish Sanghrajka, CIO Hitachi Americas. “To maintain our innovative culture, we recognized the importance and value
of integrating new technologies and enabling our global workforce to access the tools they need from anywhere. The Okta Identity
Cloud powers our truly modern identity system, flexible enough to adopt any technology and secure enough to protect our most
valuable asset — our people.”
In Q4, Okta grew its total customers to more than 6,100 organizations. Okta’s customer wins are part of continued momentum for
