U.S. stock index futures were little changed Thursday, amid talks of progress in the contentious trade talks between the U.S. and China.
Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average subsided 23 points, or 0.1%, at 25,637
Futures for the S&P 500 fell 2.5 points, or 0.1%, at 2,808
NASDAQ futures slipped 4.5 points, or 0.1%, to 7,330
Accenture and Sierra Metals are among the companies reporting earnings Thursday.
Investors will also be monitoring further data releases. U.S. weekly jobless claims and real growth rates data are due at 8.30 a.m. ET.
Investors in the U.S. awoke to optimistic reports of progress in all areas under discussion in U.S.-China trade talks, with what media reports called unprecedented movement on the touchy issue of forced technology transfers.
Overseas, in Japan, the Nikkei 225 slumped 1.6% Thursday, while in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index advanced 0.2%
Oil prices dropped 80 cents to $58.61 U.S. a barrel.
Gold prices fell $8.90 to $1,308.00 U.S. an ounce.
