Funding to introduce new long-term hospitality bag program, bring in
a visiting artist, and continue family programs
Kohl’s
(NYSE: KSS) today announced a donation of $150,000 to Ronald
McDonald House Charities® of Eastern Wisconsin, Inc. (RMHC) to
further the organization’s mission of keeping families together and
promoting the health and well-being of children. The funding will
introduce a new hospitality basket program aimed at alleviating
financial burdens for families during extended stays, expand the art
engagement program and update House amenities, in addition to continuing
to support other RMHC programs and services.
“Kohl's is proud to continue our partnership with Ronald McDonald House
Charities Eastern Wisconsin,” said Jen Johnson, Kohl’s senior vice
president, corporate communications. “We are inspired by the work Ronald
McDonald House does each day to keep families close and create a
community of support for them when they need it most.”
Kohl’s donation will introduce a Hospitality Basket Program to gift
full-size toiletries, slippers and other personal items to families who
anticipate longer-term stays at the House – helping to ease the
financial burden of staying away from home and to ensure they are as
comfortable as possible. Funds will also allow RMHC to bring in a
visiting artist, for two three-month terms, to work with guests to build
community art through the Arts@Large Program, as well as replace the
playhouse and gazebo in the on-site garden.
Kohl’s funding will continue to support the Hospitality Cart at
Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, offering healthy snacks, toys and
books to families receiving treatment, as well as the sibling and
newborn care bag programs, providing activities for siblings of sick
children and necessities such as receiving blankets and other toiletries
to support parents of hospitalized newborns. Additionally, Kohl’s will
continue to support the House’s music and art, music and dance therapies
and garden educational and memorial programs.
“We are grateful for Kohl’s continued generosity, which enables us to
better foster a supportive, loving environment to make a family’s stay
with us just a little easier,” said Ann Petrie, Ronald McDonald House
Charities Eastern Wisconsin’s president and CEO. “We strive to enhance
the quality of life for the children and families we serve by providing
comprehensive programs and services that support and strengthen them
during their stay at the House.”
