HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam, July 14, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- 66 companies in Vietnam have been named the Best Companies to Work for in Asia by the leading human resources publication, HR Asia.
This year, 11,430 employees from a total of 308 companies across Vietnam responded to the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia Survey. The survey also covers ten other markets across Asia, including Hong Kong, Mainland China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates.
In addition, HR Asia conducted in-depth assessments with human resource executives and managers of the companies to better understand HR policies, recruitment, employment information and strategic points to build a good workplace. HR Asia also conducted interviews with business leaders across 24 industries in Vietnam, continuing the independent research and votes by the Judging Panel on the shortlisted nominees.

Good Employers Score Higher
Survey participants were asked affirmative statements about their employers, and either agree or disagree with each of the statements. Based on these answers across the survey, the top 3 areas that employees in Vietnam agree about their jobs are:
- 92.4% of respondents said that they would willingly assist colleagues who require assistance.
- 91.2% of respondents feel that they are willing to go beyond their job description/their day-to-day responsibilities to assist in other areas of business.
- 90.8% of respondents feel that the skills of their colleagues were respected by the organisation.
On the other hand, the 3 areas that scored the lowest in the survey (i.e. the ones which the employees feel their companies can improve on) are:
- 22.2% of respondents feel that the organisation they work for communicates effectively with them once they leave.
- 21.2% of respondents feel that the organisation they work for is flexible.
- 19.8% of respondents feel that their employer involves employees in making corporate rules.
With few exceptions, all winning companies scored significantly higher in these areas compared to other participants. This indicates that employers that are more transparent, supportive of employees' growth and lead by example, are more likely to be rated as a good workplace by their own employees.
It is believed that through this programme, the bar for workplace practices in Vietnam and across the region have been collectively raised.
