Mark Newman and Alvenia Scarborough included on this year’s prestigious list of America’s leading Black executives
The Chemours Company (“Chemours”) (NYSE: CC), a global chemistry company, is pleased to announce that Savoy Magazine has named Chemours’ CEO Mark Newman and Chief Brand Officer Alvenia Scarborough to their prestigious 2022 list of the Most Influential Black Executives in Corporate America. Savoy developed this list based on a competitive list of criteria, including the prominence of the company, prior recognition, respect amongst peers, dedication to diversity and inclusion, and overall career ascension.
As the company’s second CEO, Mark has made an immediate impact ushering in a new chapter for Chemours, focused on more innovative and sustainable solutions, responsible manufacturing and environmental leadership, societal and community impact, and making Chemours the greatest place to work. Mark has also been a visible and vocal champion of inclusion and diversity, relaunching the Chemours Black Employee Network and acting as its initial executive sponsor. He also formed and then served as the executive sponsor of the Chemours Diversity and Inclusion Council, further embedding inclusion, diversity, and equity (ID&E) as a part of the company’s culture and ethos.
“I am honored to be named to Savoy Magazine’s list of the Most Influential Black Executives in Corporate America, and I want to thank them for this recognition,” said Mark Newman, President and CEO of Chemours. “We are building a special culture at Chemours, one that empowers every employee to be their authentic self and feel completely safe in doing so. Thank you to the entire Chemours team for embracing this aspect of our culture and making Chemours a great place to work for every employee.”
A powerhouse marketing, branding, and communications executive, Alvenia’s passion and energy for telling the Chemours story through building its brand and reputation are helping drive the company’s vision to create a better world through the power of our chemistry. An integral part of the Chemours team since our July 2015 founding, she has also been a constant champion for ID&E in the chemical industry. Alvenia also serves as the executive sponsor of the Chemours Black Employee Network and leads community relations and philanthropy for the company, launching Chemours’ first global school adoption program and its first global scholarship program.
“Thank you to Savoy Magazine for this great honor and the entire Chemours family for making our company an industry leader in delivering performance by doing what’s right for people, including through our commitment to inclusion, diversity, and equity,” said Alvenia Scarborough, Chief Brand Officer of Chemours. “I am incredibly proud of our continued focus on making inclusion and diversity a part of our culture and every aspect of how we do business while also fostering diversity in our local communities through investments in STEM education. Working together, we will continue to be a force for positive change both within Chemours and in the communities where we operate.”
