WiSA E Enables TVs to Transmit Multichannel Audio without an HDMI Cable

WISA

Embeddable software provides TV manufacturers with a low cost, feature-rich, immersive audio solution

WiSA Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: WISA), a leading provider of immersive, wireless sound technology for intelligent devices and next-generation home entertainment systems, has developed and demonstrated its new WiSA E technology designed to power the next-generation of immersive audio products. Designed specifically for TVs, WiSA E provides high-quality multichannel audio transmission to as many as 8 (moving to 10) discrete speakers without the need of an HDMI cable connected to a soundbar.

“Consumers, as well as industry leaders and TV brands, have been calling for a fully wireless, multichannel immersive audio solution,” said Brett Moyer, CEO. “But while others have been talking, WiSA has been delivering on the promise of a cable-free immersive audio technology. Our new WiSA E eliminates the need for an extra HDMI cable, and in combination with a TV's internal speakers acting as the center channel, TVs can now be designed to support immersive audio sound fields without a soundbar."

By eliminating the need for duplicative products between the TV and the soundbar, consumers can save hundreds of dollars while expanding their audio experience. WiSA E offers the consumer the most versatile set of options across price points, designs and sonic signatures with a solution that can be interoperable across multiple speaker brands.

“The soundbar ushered in the first generation of inexpensive multichannel audio systems for the average consumer, but at the expense of another cable and another electronic device sitting in front of our sleek HDTV,” said Brett Moyer, CEO. “This is an interim solution. The elegant solution is to eliminate all cable-connected devices and empower the TV to transmit and create a more immersive sound field than will ever be possible by fitting as many speakers as you can into a single device.”

An increasing amount of content supports 5.1 immersive sound with newer content supporting 5.1.4 Dolby Atmos. Soundbars are ill-equipped to replicate an audio sound field as it was intended to be experienced in these immersive audio formats. WiSA E solves this problem by making high-quality, wireless multichannel audio affordable to the average consumer.
