Volatus Aerospace Approved to Fly Beyond Line of Sight, above 400 Feet by Transport Canada to Support with Forest Fires in Canada

TORONTO, ON / ACCESSWIRE / May 3, 2023 / Volatus Aerospace Corp. (TSXV:VOL) (OTCQB:VLTTF) ("Volatus" or "the Company"), announced that it has been granted a Special Flight Operating Certificate (SFOC) to fly beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) and above 400 feet above ground level (AGL) in order to support fire suppression agencies across Canada.

In recent years, the prevalence of forest fires has only grown in North America and the ability to quickly detect and suppress hotspots and fires before they spread is paramount to protecting valuable resources and lives. Drones can deploy quickly to provide persistent overwatch of assets and identify hazards so that teams can respond quickly before they expand.

This certificate builds on a number of initiatives by Volatus to unlock advanced drone operations including an SFOC granted by Transport Canada, announced on August 10, 2022, to operate a drone remotely within an active airport without visual observers using only optical detect and avoid; the granting of a Canadian Transportation Agency License for Drone Cargo Services; and the commercialization of their remote nesting station, Aerieport.

"This is a logical next step in the continued advancement of our BVLOS operating capabilities," said Glen Lynch, CEO of Volatus Aerospace. "Our clients, whether they are provincial forestry agencies, utilities, oil and gas, or public safety can all benefit by increasing our capabilities to fly beyond visual line of sight. We've been working closely with regulators to unlock the full potential to deliver remotely piloted, continuous data collection to our clients. These milestones are key to scaling drone services and unlocking next-level drone capabilities."
