ISG to Evaluate Agribusiness, Chemicals Service Providers

III

Upcoming ISG Provider Lens™ report will look into the unique capabilities of service providers supporting two closely aligned industries

Information Services Group (ISG) (Nasdaq: III), a leading global technology research and advisory firm, has launched a research study examining technology solutions providers supporting the closely aligned agribusiness and chemicals industries.

The study results will be published in two comprehensive ISG Provider Lens™ reports, called Agribusiness and Chemicals Services and Solutions 2025, one covering the U.S. market and the other the Brazil market, scheduled for release in April 2025. The reports will assess providers of consulting, implementation and integration, supply chain and logistics, sustainability and innovation, and digital IT/OT services. Providers are expected to leverage technologies such as AI, ERP, IoT, advanced networks, blockchain, analytics and automation while prioritizing cybersecurity and data orchestration, to optimize the agribusiness and chemicals value chains.

Enterprise buyers will be able to use information from the reports to evaluate their current vendor relationships, potential new engagements and available offerings, while ISG advisors use the information to recommend providers to the firm’s buy-side clients.

The global economy has continued to pose significant challenges to the agribusiness and chemicals sectors, as evidenced by a production decline for U.S. chemicals producers in 2023. Nevertheless, the industry is expected to resume a healthy growth pattern, overcoming the hardship of an extended inventory destocking cycle, to post anticipated 2.2 percent annual growth for 2024, and projected 1.9 percent annual growth in 2025.

Agriculture, meanwhile, has averaged 12 percent annual growth over the last two decades in markets such as Brazil, where agriculture represents 30 percent of the country’s GDP.

“Agribusiness, in markets like Brazil, requires more technology applications across the value chain, including integration of IT/OT, field sensors and multifrequency networks,” said Iain Fisher, director, ISG Provider Lens Research. ”Meanwhile, our research finds about half of the chemicals industry had embarked on digital transformation programs by the end of 2022, and more than 60 percent of those companies reported positive results. In both industries, AI will play an increasingly important role in helping companies optimize their value chains.”

ISG has distributed surveys to more than 80 providers serving the agribusiness and chemicals industries. Working in collaboration with ISG’s global advisors, the research team will produce seven quadrants representing the agribusiness and chemicals services the typical enterprise is buying based on ISG’s experience working with its clients. The seven quadrants are:

  • Digital IT/OT Services — Agribusiness assessing providers of services designed and implemented specifically for the agribusiness supply chain. These include multifrequency or satellite field communications networks, cloud data platforms and analytics, remote sensors and satellite imagery, AI monitoring, and geolocation and telemetry services.
  • Digital IT/OT Services — Chemicals evaluating providers of technology and operations management services driven by automation, AI, cloud, data management, asset optimization and management analytics, IT/OT integration, ERP services and solutions, and infrastructure services. These services enable chemical companies to improve efficiency and productivity in daily operations while enhancing decision-making.
  • Supply Chain and Logistics — Agribusiness examining providers that offer services focusing on processes, technologies and implementation services for value chain management. Providers in this quadrant must address complex agribusiness issues, identify growth opportunities and strengthen operations through resilience, agility and sustainability.
  • Supply Chain and Logistics — Chemicals focusing on providers of solutions that help chemical producers manage functions such as procurement, warehousing, inventory, fulfillment, transportation and logistics. Services help the chemicals industry build and maintain supply chains that are resilient, adaptive, connected, data-driven and sustainable.
  • Sustainability and Innovation — Agribusiness assessing providers that support sustainable agribusiness operations, through consulting, solutions implementation and monitoring. Providers in this quadrant assist their clients in simplifying and innovating operations, to optimize resource consumption and reduce environmental impact through sustainable business practices.
  • Sustainability and Innovation — Chemicals evaluating providers helping the chemicals industry address sustainability and innovation challenges while delivering value that can help companies achieve competitive advantage at scale. Providers in this quadrant help deliver and manage value chain management strategies, net-zero transitions, reporting and analytics, worker safety, R&D, lab management and data management.
  • Strategy and Enablers — Agribusiness focusing on providers of process and technology implementation and consulting services to support business strategy and governance. These services address complex and strategic organizational issues, identify growth opportunities and strengthen operations.

Geographically focused reports from the study will cover the global agribusiness and chemicals markets and examine products and services available in the U.S. and Brazil. ISG analysts Mohdaves Malik (U.S.) and Sidney Mobre (Brazil) will serve as lead authors of the reports.

A list of identified providers and vendors and further details on the study are available in this digital brochure. Companies not listed as agribusiness or chemicals service providers can contact ISG and ask to be included in the study.
