Research using Cloud DX's (CDX) virtual care platform has shown that remote patient monitoring (RPM) improves patient outcomes.
The study, led by P.J. Devereaux and Michael McGillion of the Population Health Research Institute, is called "Post discharge after surgery virtual care with remote automated monitoring technology".
It enlisted 900 patients at nine hospitals to evaluate if RPM, when used for 30 days post-surgery, improved patient outcomes compared to standard care.
Patients using Cloud DX's Connected Health platform had their vital signs monitored at home. They could also send nurses photos of surgical wounds and virtually access a nurse or doctor 24 hours a day.
The study demonstrated that post-surgical RPM:
- Prevented and resolved 24 per cent more medication errors compared to the standard care cohort
- Reduced reported pain in patients by 10-14 per cent
- Reduced return hospital visits by 5 per cent compared to standard care
The study served as the foundation for the new surgical transitions program at HHS and St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton.
Cloud DX provides a digital and virtual health care platform for patient remote monitoring, aging in place and hospital-quality post-surgical care.
Cloud DX (CDX) closed down by 3.77 per cent trading at $0.255 per share.
