Alchemist Mining (CSE:AMS) has announced its acquisition of Aqueous Resources has been awarded a fast-track grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
In a news release, the company said Aqueous Resources has been granted US$1.3 million, which will support the commercialization of Aqueous’ US-patented modular AcQUA system.
With its headquarters out of Vancouver, B.C., Alchemist Mining operates a range of mining subsidiaries, including the recently acquired Aqueous Resources.
“These funds will further support Aqueous’ fully operational DLE processing facility in the United States and the processing of continental brines from leading resource owners in the United States, Chile and Argentina,” Scott Taylor, CEO of Alchemist Mining, said in a statement.
According to the company, the DOE announced $72 million in grants for small business research and development purposes. In total, 296 projects for companies pursuing scientific, clean energy, climate research and development received funds.
Only 10 fast-tracks were awarded – including Aqueous Resources.
Aqueous Resources operates out of Colorado and is the sole owner of the AcQUA technology, which is patent pending for an electro-pressure membrane process and method for recovery and concentration of lithium chloride from aqueous sources.
Shares of Alchemist Mining are unchanged at C$0.60.
