Diversified Bitcoin stock, Hut 8 Mining (TSX:HUT) rose nearly 2 per cent in early Monday trading after news of its business combination with U.S. Bitcoin.
Its proposed business combination with U.S. Data Mining Group, Inc. (dba U.S. Bitcoin Corp.) has been described as an all-stock “merger of equals.” The company has received a no-action letter from the Competition Bureau of Canada, which confirms that it does not intend to challenge the transaction.
In a news release, Hut 8 Mining CEO Jamie Leverton said, “As we continue to work towards closing the proposed transaction with USBTC, the issuance of this no-action letter is a positive development as it satisfies the Competition Act Approval condition in the business combination agreement.”
U.S. Bitcoin is an eco-friendly and large-scale North American Bitcoin mining company. Its campuses in New York, Nebraska and Texas operate hundreds of megawatts of Bitcoin mining infrastructure independently and for clients.
Hut 8 is one of North America’s largest innovation-focused digital asset miners. It operates with one of the highest capacity rates in the industry and one of the highest inventories of self-mined Bitcoin of any miner or publicly traded company globally.
