Starcore International Mines (TSX:SAM) has begun an exploration program on its Ajax Property in the “Golden Triangle” mineral belt.

The Vancouver-based precious metals explorer has 100 per cent ownership of the property, located 12 kilometres north of Alice Arm in northwestern B.C. It lies southeast of Dolly Varden Silver, 7 km south of Big Bulk and 17 km east of the Golddigger/Surebet property under Goliath Resources Ltd. (TSXV:GOT).

The property is 17 square km in size and is host to a large porphyry molybdenum developed prospect that has been tested by 48 drill holes, beginning in the mid-1960s.

The drill core will be resampled during the fieldwork and assayed for additional elements including gold, silver, cobalt, tungsten, and rhenium. The historic underground mine workings at the Le Roy mineral occurrence will also be located and sampled.

The company recently contracted Auracle Geospatial Science Inc. to complete a subsurface structural interpretation and an apparent resistivity study of the property.

Starcore International Mines Ltd. is engaged in exploring, extracting, and processing gold and silver. The company – through its wholly owned subsidiary, Compania Minera Pena de Bernal, S.A. de C.V. (Bernal), which owns the San Martin mine in Queretaro, Mexico – is also engaged in acquiring mining-related operating assets and exploration assets in North America.

Starcore International Mines Ltd. opened trading at $0.10 per share.
