Liberty Defense Holdings (TSXV:SCAN) has delivered a HEXWAVE system to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

HEXWAVE uses millimetre wave, 3D imaging and artificial intelligence (AI) to detect concealed metallic and non-metallic weapons – including 3D-printed guns and liquid, plastic, and powder explosives – without having to divest patrons of items on their person.

The TSA is the U.S. Department of Homeland Security agency responsible for airline passenger security screening.

“Over the past several months, we have been working closely with major U.S. airports, including LAX, Denver, Oakland and others on enhancing employee screening to reduce the potential of an insider threat,” Liberty’s CEO Bill Frain said in a news release. “The focus of the program is to improve the detection for a broader range of threats while also improving the throughput for a practical and efficient process. A significant number of airports will be required to improve their screening process over the next several months. We look forward to supporting the initiative and making it a seamless transition.”

The company added that given the TSA’s mandate to implement screening for aviation workers, airports will need technologies that provide a broad range of threat detection to keep pace with screening requirements and those mandated for the future.

Liberty Defense provides multi-technology security solutions for concealed weapons detection in high-traffic areas, including airports, stadiums, schools and more.

Liberty Defense Holdings Ltd. last traded at $0.19 per share and is up 11.42 per cent over the past month.
