Lithium stock Surge Battery Metals (TSXV:NILI) has filed a new exploration plan for its Nevada North project.

The Vancouver-based miner submitted an exploration plan of operations and reclamation plan permit application to the Bureau of Land Management for its high-grade lithium clay discovery at the project site.

The approved plan would provide for up to 1.01 square kilometres of disturbance compared with the currently authorized 0.02 square km.

Once approved, the plan allows for in-fill drilling to further define the current mineral resource area and allow for possible expansion of the known deposit through step out drilling. The results of these activities will be used for an updated mineral resource estimate. Proposed activities in the plan also include installation of groundwater wells to support hydrogeologic baseline characterization, performing additional metallurgical characterization and testing, and completion of geotechnical investigations. The Bureau of Land Management is responsible for preparing an environmental assessment.

“The expanded program, once approved, will allow us to continue to define the size of the mineralization of the Nevada North Lithium Project,” Greg Reimer, Surge Battery Metals’ CEO, said in a statement. “In the interim, we continue to plan our 2024 drill program within our remediated 5-acre disturbance limit and the ground the company acquired an interest in from M3 Metals Corp.”

Surge’s flagship Nevada North lithium project southeast of Jackpot, Nevada, yielded a strongly mineralized zone of lithium-bearing clays over a strike length of more than 1,600 metres during October 2022 drilling. Highly anomalous soil values suggest the potential for clay horizons to be much greater than their initial 400 metre estimate.

The average lithium content within all near-surface clay zones in 2022 drilling was 3,254 parts-per-million (ppm), substantiating the presence of a likely significant lithium deposit.

Ongoing 2023 drilling seeks to expand the mineralized strike length to more than 3,500 metres and the width of mineralization to 950 metres. Initial assay results had a high of 8,070 ppm lithium with an average of 4,067 ppm lithium.

Surge Battery Metals is a Canadian-based mineral exploration company focused on lithium in Nevada.

Surge Battery Metals last traded at $0.58 per share. The stock has added 262.5 per cent over the past year.
