Graphano Energy (TSXV:GEL) has officially begun drilling activities at its 100-per-cent-owned Standard Mine and Lac Aux Bouleaux graphite properties in Quebec.

The company stated in a news release that it anticipates drilling 25 holes for up to 3,000 metres before the end of the year.

Forage Herbert has been awarded the drilling contract while Mercator Geological Services will conduct the drill program design and St-Pierre Exploration will control the field logistics of the program.

“Backed by a robust production history and strategically advantageous project locations, we confidently assert ourselves as the most immediate source of graphite in North America,” Luisa Mreno, CEO of Graphano Energy, said in a statement. “Despite the challenges posed by the sluggish junior mining equity markets, we are committed to advance the Standard and LAB properties.”

Previous results from the Standard Mine include:

  • Trench TR23-25, returned 8.91 per cent graphitic carbon (Cg) over 23 metres, including 12.0 per cent Cg over 14 metres and a second zone assaying 10.87 per cent Cg over 6 metres
  • Drill Hole ST23-10 intersected 5.11 per cent cg over 20.5 metres starting at 39.0 metres drilled depth, including 6.7 per cent Cg over 9.0 metres at 41 metres;
  • Drill Hole ST23-11 intersected 7.44 per cent Cg over 13.0 metres at 31 metres;
  • Drill Hole ST23-13 intersected 8.99 per cent Cg over 11.3 metres at 4.2 metres, and 7.65 per cent Cg over 13 metres at 56 metres; and
  • Drill Hole ST23-05 intersected 5.79 per cent Cg over 14.0 metres at 4.6 metres.

The current program will focus on Zone 3, the historical pit area and Zone 1 if time permits. The company will also conduct drilling at the historical pit area where confirmatory holes will be drilled to validate the current resource modeling work and to test for expansion of the deposit.

Graphano Energy is focused on evaluating, acquiring and developing energy metals resources from exploration to production.

Shares of Graphano Energy are unchanged at C$0.115.
