HIVE Digital Technologies ramps up bitcoin mining

HIVE Digital Technologies (TSXV:HIVE) has had busy month mining bitcoin in Sweden.

In a news release, the Vancouver-based company said it produced 276.3 bitcoin during November, with an average of 9.2 bitcoin produced per day – representing an increase of its October production of 265.9 bitcoin.

According to the company, its daily production of 9.2 bitcoins per day represents 66.7 bitcoins per exahash of mining capacity. The company ended the month with 4.18 exahashes per second of bitcoin mining capacity, which is a 5.4 per cent increase from October.

HIVE Digital Technologies also announced it had acquired a data centre in Boden, Sweden, from Turis AB and the property on which the centre is located.

“This strategic data centre acquisition furthers our commitment to putting hard assets on our balance sheet. The addition of this 6 MW of capacity for shares and cash is expected to add around 250 PH/s to HIVE’s hashrate growth plans,” Aydin Kilic, CEO of HIVE Digital Technologies, said in a statement.

The new centre is roughly 200 metres from HIVE’s existing data centre where the company aims to increase bitcoin production and use its incoming new generation ASIC servers.

HIVE Digital Technologies went public in 2017 as the first cryptocurrency mining company listed on the TSX Venture Exchange.

The company owns state-of-the-art data centre facilities in Canada, Sweden and Iceland where it aims to source green energy to mine digital assets on the cloud.

Shares of HIVE Digital Technologies are up 2.86 per cent to C$5.39 as of 11:24 am ET.
