Leading Edge Materials (TSXV:LEM), a microcap critical materials stock, has revealed more high-grade cobalt, nickel and gold assay results from Gallery 7 on its 51-per-cent-owned Bihor Sud project in Romania.
The assays stem from 104 chip samples that expand the mineralized zone by approximately 250 metres to a total length of 400 m.
Highlights include 6.7 per cent cobalt, 13 per cent nickel and 7.5 g/t gold, with 33 per cent exceeding 0.44 per cent nickel equivalent.
The field team chose areas to sample based on mineralized zones identified through mapping and by hand-held X-ray fluorescence, and it will use the results to inform a follow-up drilling campaign. Mineralized occurrences occupy the gallery walls over a few metres into the tens of metres and are about 20-80 centimetres thick.
Observed cobalt-nickel mineralization “will add to the overall strike length of the total mineralized Gallery 7 segment,” according to Friday’s news release.
The results add to high-grade samples and assays reported on Oct. 25.
“We are very excited to see that our new assays demonstrate persistence of cobalt-nickel-gold-mineralization into Gallery 7, opening further, previously unknown potential,” Eric Krafft, Leading Edge Materials’ chief executive officer, said in a statement. “In combination with our mapping results, clearly outlining the structural context and strike/dip directions of mineralized zones, these findings yield immediate drill targets. The company has therefore decided to skip channel sampling of these zones to proceed directly to an underground drill program.”
