Shares of Free Battery Metals (CSE:FREE) are down on Monday after the release of its 2023 exploration program at the Mound Lake Property in Ontario.
In a news release, the Toronto-based company stated the program, which included prospecting and grab sampling, was completed and that 213 rock samples were sent to ALS Laboratories for analysis.
At least 165 more samples were collected in September and October 2023 and were also sent for trace element geochemistry analysis.
Results were successful in confirming the presence of pegmatitic rocks with elevated tantalum, lithium, beryllium and other rare metal values near Mound Lake that were significantly higher than those returned from samples collected during the summer field season.
Free Battery Metals stated it is hopeful the Mound Lake Property and its pegmatites will be the subject of an academic study by Shannon Zurevinski from the department of geology at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Now that the company has completed the first year of exploration, it has compiled a significant amount of analytical results, samples and geological site descriptions. It anticipates completing a review of the database as well as a comprehensive assessment of previous work done on the property to determine future exploration.
Free Battery Metals is a company exploring lithium, including the Mound Lake Property in Ontario. The property includes 243 single-cell unpatented mining claims spanning 4,860 hectares.
Shares of Free Battery Metals are down 16.67 per cent to C$0.025 as of 10:20 am ET.
