Laurion Mineral Exploration (TSXV:LME), a top-performing junior gold stock, is sharing value-accretive assays from the first three drill holes of its 2024 program at its Ishkõday project in Ontario.

The drill holes explored the land package 458 metres northeast of the Sturgeon River mine shaft and successfully intersected the Sturgeon River mineralized system, confirming seven known mineralized structures, as well as new intermediate structures (as previously discovered during 2023 drilling across LME23-033 to LME23-036).

The junior gold stock will conduct further geological modelling to learn how the new gold zones relate with the existing model, potentially suggesting expansion opportunities north and south of the Sturgeon River mine. The Sturgeon River mineralized system includes seven distinct quartz veins and mineralized shear zones, with grades ranging from 0.1 g/t Au to 7.78 g/t Au.

Exploration to date at Ishkõday has uncovered numerous characteristics commonly observed in orogenic gold deposits. The project, situated in the Beardmore-Geraldton Greenstone Belt of Northern Ontario, features a 6 kilometres x 2.5 km gold-polymetallic mineralized corridor backed by multiple years of increasingly prospective exploration.

Management insights

“Another significant milestone achieved by Laurion underscores the company’s commitment to advancing its exploration endeavors,” Cynthia Le Sueur-Aquin, Laurion Mineral Exploration’s president and chief executive officer, said in a statement, “with the primary goal of enhancing the understanding and expanding the considerable gold potential within the stratigraphic formations encompassing the seven identified quartz veins and mineralized structures at the Sturgeon River mine within the Ishkõday project.”
