Liberty Defense (TSXV:SCAN), an AI stock focused on threat and weapons detection technology, has won a contract with the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport to deploy multiple units of its HEXWAVE device.
The HEXWAVE is a walk-through solution that uses millimeter-wave, advanced 3D imaging and AI to detect concealed metallic and non-metallic threats and other prohibited items without the need for a pat down, including liquid, powder and plastic explosives, 3D-printed ghost guns, and other threats undetectable by advanced metal detectors.
The devices will help the airport to comply with the U.S. Transportation Security Administration’s 2023 National Amendment for Aviation Worker Security Screening, which calls for certain airport operators (categories X, I, and II) to conduct enhanced aviation worker screening, creating a nationwide market for versatile technologies such as HEXWAVE that stack up well against competitors (slide 10).
The contract with Manchester-Boston, which was named best domestic airport in the United States by Travel + Leisure in 2023, follows a number of notable sales for Liberty Defense, including to a major international airport in New York, a major airport in Canada, as well as international orders in Chile, Amsterdam and the Philippines, adding to the company’s rapidly expanding share of the more than US$100 billion global physical security market, which will grow to US$136.9 billion by 2028, according to Markets and Markets.

“We are thrilled that the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport has selected Liberty Defense and the HEXWAVE as the screening solution for the aviation worker program,” added Bill Frain, Liberty Defense’s chief executive officer. “The flexibility and portability of the HEXWAVE allows the airport to quickly deploy and move the HEXWAVE to help meet security screening requirements inside the airport.
