Full Circle Lithium (TSXV:FCLI) has filed U.S. patents for its proprietary FCL-X lithium-ion battery fire-extinguishing agent.

The U.S.-based lithium products manufacturer and recycler has submitted a Patent Cooperation Treaty and U.S. Patent Application. These patent applications seek to protect the company for the commercialization of FCL-X in the United States, with the additional flexibility for it to also seek protection in most major global markets.

FCL-X is specifically designed for fighting lithium-ion battery fires including commercial, industrial, transportation, residential settings and use by first responders.

With the increasing awareness of the dangers of lithium-ion battery fires, the company has advanced its work to secure patents for its FCL-X lithium-ion battery fire-extinguishing agent.

According to the International Energy Agency, electric vehicle battery demand soared to 550 GW hours in 2022, a 65 per cent increase from the previous year.

“We believe the patent application process we have initiated is an important step in protecting FCL-X as we advance the commercialization efforts in the U.S. and, thereafter, internationally,” Full Circle Lithium’s CEO and co-founder, Carlos Vicens, commented in a news release. “We announced our first sales to a major EV manufacturer two weeks ago and the interest level has been significant. The addressable market is large, and our sales and operating staff will be extremely busy this summer with FCL-X demonstrations and ramping up production.”

Full Circle Lithium Corp. is focused on lithium and battery materials reintegration to meet the demand for crucial battery-grade raw materials, utilizing proprietary technology.
