Graphano Energy (TSXV:GEL) has made a significant new graphite discovery at its Standard East claim group in Québec.
The miner made this discovery, called “The Black Pearl,” on its recently staked area that was acquired earlier this year. It has already shown promising results with the Black Pearl discovery. Preliminary exploration and drilling have identified high-grade graphite mineralization, sparking optimism for the site’s potential.
Discovery and potential of the Black Pearl graphite trend
The Black Pearl graphite trend was identified through prospecting and has been delineated over a strike length of approximately 1,000 metres, with potential for further extension. Significant grades and thicknesses of graphite mineralization have been uncovered within geological units like those found in the major graphite deposits of the Lac des Iles region, underscoring the excellent potential of this previously unexplored area.
The claims are strategically situated between Graphano’s advanced stage Standard Mine project and the Mousseau Project, which has a measured and indicated resource of 2.8 million tonnes with a grade of 7.9 per cent graphitic carbon. Graphano holds a dominant land position in this area, with 42.6 square kilometres of fully owned mining claims.
From a stripped bedrock area of approximately 1,200 square metres, 42 channel samples were collected, averaging 13.2 per cent graphitic carbon (Cg). Noteworthy results include 15.1 per cent Cg over 14 metres and 17.9 per cent Cg over 9 metres.
To further guide prospecting and evaluate the extent of the graphite mineralization, a total of 8.4 km of ground geophysical electromagnetic (EM) surveys were conducted. These surveys successfully identified a broad conductive corridor, ranging from 75 to 150 metres in width, with multiple anomalies extending over 800 metres through the initial discovery area.
Geological mapping of the Black Pearl trend reveals that the graphite mineralization is hosted within a sequence of paragneiss, marble, and quartzites.
“We are excited by the discovery of the Black Pearl graphite trend, highlighting the exceptional potential of our Standard East claim group,” The company’s chief executive officer, Luisa Moreno said in a news release. “This initial, cost-effective prospecting program has rapidly identified a priority drilling target, which could greatly enhance our Mineral Resource growth objectives. Our ongoing exploration success strengthens Graphano’s position as a potential leading graphite producer and reinforces our competitive edge in the market.”
Graphano Energy’s exploration team has been conducting comprehensive geological surveys and drilling programs to delineate the extent and quality of the graphite deposit. Initial assay results indicate a substantial graphite concentration, suggesting that the Black Pearl could be one of the company’s most valuable assets.
The discovery comes at a crucial time, as the demand for graphite is expected to rise significantly in the coming years, driven by its critical role in battery production for electric vehicles, renewable energy storage, and other technological applications.
