Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) has reported an Office applications and services outrage, stating that many of its customers are unable to access some Office applications and services.

The company reported on X, formerly known as Twitter, at 8:48 am ET that it was “investigating access issues and degraded performance with multiple Microsoft 365 services and features.”

“We’ve applied mitigations and rerouted user requests to provide relief. We’re monitoring the service to confirm resolution and further information can be found at https://status.cloud.microsoft or under MO842351 in the admin center,” the company stated in a follow-up message.

The company stated on a page dedicated to outage updates that users who can access Microsoft 365 platforms “may experience latency or degraded feature performance.”

Impacted services included the Microsoft admin centre, cloud services Intune and Entra, as well as its coding tool collection Power Platform.

Services that were impacted include Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business and Exchange Online.

According to Microsoft, the service disruption began around 7:45 am ET, and was impacting networks all around the world, including Canada.

The service disruptions come in the wake of roughly 8 million computers using the Windows operating system crashing July 19 after a cybersecurity incident from CrowdStrike Holdings in which it released a faulty software update.

Microsoft will also be revealing its Q4 earnings on Tuesday after market close.

Shares of Microsoft Corp. (NDAQ:MSFT) are down 2.06 per cent to US$417.95 as of 1:10 p.m. ET.
