G Mining Ventures Corp. (TSX:GMIN) reported that a fatality had occurred at its Oko West Gold Project in Guyana.
The intermediate gold producer stated in a news release that the fatality was related to a road incident, which occurred on Oct. 13.
The worker was a contractor employed by Hopkinson Mining Security Services Inc., a partner of G Mining Ventures. The company’s country leadership is on-site to cooperate with and assist the authorities fully in their investigations.
Details regarding the cause of death are currently under investigation. Since the incident took place in a secluded part of the site, it didn’t affect the overall operations, and the site continues to be open.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic accident,” Louis-Pierre Gignac, G Mining’s President and CEO, said in a statement. “Our sincere condolences and support are with our colleague’s family, friends, and coworkers during this difficult time.”
G Mining Ventures Corp. is engaged in the acquisition, exploration and development of precious metal projects.
