Renewable energy stock AmmPower (CSE:AMMP) will participate in the Foundational Infrastructure for the Responsible Use of Small Modular Reactor Technology (FIRST) Program in Ukraine.

This initiative, launched by the U.S. government in 2019, aims to support partner countries in exploring small modular reactors (SMRs) and advanced nuclear technologies while adhering to the highest standards of nuclear security and safety.

On November 16th, during the U.N. Climate Change Conference (COP29), Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Bonnie Jenkins and Ukraine’s Minister of Energy German Galushchenko announced three key project partnerships under the FIRST program. This collaboration is designed to position Ukraine as a leader in secure and safe nuclear energy in the post-war landscape. The announcement included a commitment of $30 million to support these complementary projects.

AmmPower will contribute to the FIRST Program by providing ammonia generation equipment for the Ukraine Clean Fuels from SMR Pilot Plant Project in Phase 2. This project, initially unveiled by Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry and Minister Galushchenko at COP27, aims to demonstrate the production of clean hydrogen and ammonia—essential for agricultural fertilizers—using safe and secure SMR technology.

“We are very pleased to have been selected to supply the ammonia production equipment for this project, and excited to be working with this international team lead by the U.S. Department of State,” AmmPower’s CEO, Dr. Gary Benninger said in a news release. “In addition, we see our selection to provide innovative small scale ammonia production equipment to be indicative of the consortium’s confidence in AmmPower’s technology and production capability.”

The pilot plant will be developed as part of a public-private consortium involving partners from Japan, South Korea, Ukraine, and the United States. AmmPower’s involvement underscores its commitment to advancing clean energy solutions and supporting Ukraine’s energy transition.

As the FIRST program progresses, it aims to help Ukraine safely and responsibly build its small modular reactor capabilities, ensuring that the country can meet its clean energy needs while maintaining high standards of nuclear safety and non-proliferation. This partnership marks a significant step forward in the global effort to harness advanced nuclear technologies for sustainable energy production.

AmmPower is a clean energy company focused on the production of green ammonia. The company is active in all facets of green ammonia technology, including the production of green fertilizers, carbon-free shipping fuel, and the ‘cracking’, or moving of green hydrogen as ammonia.

AmmPower stock (CSE:AMMP) opened trading at $0.025 and has fallen by 28.57 per cent since the year began, but is up 66.67 per cent over the past three months.
