In this week’s edition of “Buzz”, first a bookkeeping note. We experienced some technical issues with last week’s Investor Pulse Poll (lower, right on homepage), so we are carrying it over for one week and we will publish the results next week.

Next on the agenda for Stockhouse investors is an upcoming investor conference. Cambridge House International’s late-spring mining conference has a new name: it’s now the International Mining Investment Conference. And it’s occurring a little earlier.

This year’s show is taking place on May 15th and May 16th. Other than that, it’s what investors normally expect with a Cambridge House show: lots of resource companies, lots of guest speakers, and lots of investors wanting to learn about new investment themes and expedite their due diligence.

We want to help you take advantage of this event. Stockhouse has been authorized to provide our audience with a discount code. For all investors pre-registering online, you can save $10 by entering promo code: STOCKHOUSE.

Looking for even more ways to boost your investing profits? Here's something new: the IMIC DealRoom. This is your opportunity to not only participate in private placement opportunities with these resource companies, but to also schedule one-on-one meetings with the management personnel of these companies. Over 300 meetings are already booked. If you are an accredited investor and serious about investing, you can apply here to be accepted to book meetings.

As always, Stockhouse will have its own booth at this year's Conference. Come by to visit us in Booth #108 to talk about markets or share any questions or thoughts you have about Stockhouse itself.

With mining taking center stage, there is considerable activity on Stockhouse’s mining Bullboards this week.

A new leader has taken over top spot: Katanga Mining Ltd. (TSX: KAT, OTCQB: KATFF, Forum). There has been a significant increase in activity on this Bullboard in recent weeks after news came out about serious financial issues with its state-sponsored partner in KAT’s copper/cobalt mining operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Katanga’s share price has taken a serious hit as a result.

Behind Katanga is a company that now has a strong hub at Stockhouse among metals/mining investors: Novo Resources Corp. (TSX: V.NVO, OTCQB: NSRPF, Forum). Despite weakness in the price of gold in the last couple of weeks, NVO has bucked that trend with the share price rising solidly.

Next on our Metals & Mining leaderboard, there is a name that may be new to many mining investors: Cypress Development Corp. (TSX: V.CYP, OTCQB: CYDVF, Forum). This junior lithium company has had a solid performance over the past year, with its share price tripling. Recently CYP was in the news with a maiden resource estimate at its Clayton Valley project.

Despite general weakness in metals prices recently, some of these junior mining companies have still been able to push their share price higher – and generate investor profits. This month’s International Mining Investment Conference, hosted by Cambridge House, is your opportunity to separate the contenders from the pretenders.

And the Stockhouse Bullboards remain your favorite destination to talk about what you’re seeing and hearing on these mining companies. As always, you can focus in on your favorite sector/industry group by visting Stockhouse’s Trending News page.
