Today: Purchased Freegold Ventures, sold Tasman; more Tembo Gold, Colt Resources

So yes, finally -- I own something that is active in Alaska. Freegold Ventures. I examined Kristina Walcott's company two years ago, after a chance meeting in Europe, and again in February 2014 after lengthy telephone briefings. See report.

Freegold (TSX:T.FVL, Stock Forum) holds something on the order of 8.5 million ounces of gold in all Canada-compliant categories.

Driver here is drill assays, some looking to expand the oxide portion of those Alaska targets. I paid 24 cents Canadian for the USA-traded version: higher than I had hoped, but I have assurances from my technical adviser(s) that the shares will head back to the 30-cent level next week. I am in.

Tembo Gold (TSX:V.TEM, Stock Forum): Shares of the Tanzania prospector are under accumulation, I believe. I bought more this week. Many reasons why -- the TCR thesis being Dave Scott's exploration, not far from Bulyanhulu Mine of African Barrick, will become the next shining east Africa star in a nation whose mineral projects have taken second seat to Eritrea for far too long. Please see previous reports for site visit and background. This might be the next -- or one of several -- Oyu Tolgois of the world in the scale of its discovery, if I am correct.

AMSE -- American Sands Energy (OBB:AMSE, Stock Forum) will continue to shrink the valuation gap between its AMSE shares and those of US Oil Sands (TSX:V.USO, Stock Forum). It is again today. Even so, AMSE and USO likely will benefit from continued professional interest on the part of large investors in the state of Utah and its bitumen heavy oil.

Sold my Tasman Metals (TSX:V.TSM, Stock Forum), and thanks David Banister of technician Active Trading Partners for that. Talk about a quick turnaround.

Finally, I am looking at TCR 8 preferred investment Colt Resources on both the Portugal and Middle Eastern fronts. Colt is one of the few ways into minerals and other economic activity in Pakistan and quite possibly Afghanistan. Both are emerging economies that appear to be growing smartly. I own about 200,000 shares of COLT (TSX:V.GTP, Stock Forum). I look to add to my stake.

Your friendly,
