The Calandra Report: Arizona from the sky

SUPERIOR, Arizona-- Desert Star Resources (TSX:V.DSR, Stock Forum) has Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada property lines into Pilot Gold and Eurasian Minerals, among others. That's via optioned properties.

This is why I am touring DSR's laramide porphyry properties in an Arizona copper belt that already has produced 20 million metric tons of the metal. Resolution Copper Mine in our chopper tour is the star attraction: under development by Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton.

Resolution execs around here can be heard saying their copper is five Empire State Buildings deep.

At any rate, the scale if this district --from the air -- is...well... off scale. There is the Curis Florence project; over there at the old Magma smelter; at 3 0'clock there's Freeport Mac's (NYSE:FCX, Stock Forum) Miami Inspiration or KGHM's (GREY:KGHPF, Stock Forum) Cactus-Carlotta at 11 over there. On and on.

The last time I got a premonition viewing pit after pit of producing, historic and developing, copper mines of large scale -- from the air -- was Peru looking at FerroBamba, next to Antares' Haquira. I waited too long on Antares and John Black's company went to First Quantum for $600-plus million.

We touched down at Red Top. One of the Eurasian (TSX:V.EMX, Stock Forum) optioned properties. See: DSR projects. But before we did, I already had bought 10,000 shares of the stock, which is challenging to purchase.

Lucky for me our pilot was flying a lot lower than 5 skyscrapers above these endless porphyry targets or I could not have traded from the air.

TCR audience, in coming days I will provide impressions about the 3 Arizona properties in the DSR bag. There are also properties in New Mexico and Nevada. For now, I only can say that I got to meet the technical folks from Eurasian and its Bronco Arizona unit, and geologists and execs from DSR.

On Friday or Monday, I will attempt to purchase another 100,000 shares of Desert Star. Much more to come, although I expect one or two of the writers/investors on this customized 2-day visit might beat me to the punch bowl. (321gold.com and ceo.ca)

Nick Houghton of True North Gems (TSX:V.TGX, Stock Forum) bought $46,000 Canadian worth of his ruby developer's shares in the open market. As noted here, True North shares got a trashing from an overextended shareholder the other day; the guy, an Australian rabbi or something like that who lives in Singapore and has 11 kids, was selling millions of shares. Here is what Nick,a member of the TCR family, told me: "Why the hell not!! Everyone is going to profit from this why the heck shouldn’t I?"

Here is Nick's letter to shareholders about the matter: https://www.digitaljournal.com/images/djlogo_onblack.gif.

I own a bunch. Here is our previous report. Like I said, this is a special situation.

More to come. Eurasian Minerals is EMXX in USA. Pilot Gold is one of our TCR 8.

Love Arizona.

Your friendly,
Thom Calandra
