LAS VEGAS – Here is another kingdom: a lot like Vegas, where odds always favor
la casa.
Microcaps – the small fry. That’s a kingdom with no king.
No odds-maker.
No house.
I used to call micro-caps
freshly scrubbed. That was in the 1990s, when the idea of companies below a $100 million value was fresh. When the madcap execs behind these pipedreams were scrubbing press releases, putting themselves in a gleaming beam of floating text (also known as
vaporware) for possible new investors.

Then came the late 1990s and into the new century, the I-stocks and E-stocks parabolizing beyond anyone’s dreams, and any broker’s odds. The $5 million market caps almost overnight transforming into $100 million companies.
That lasted about a minute.
Still, as pointed out in these oldies but goodies from that era –
see Thom Calandra for the nostalgia — a sliver of these micro-caps did use the promotional and capital leverage of their ascent to good effect.
