The Golden Question

Dr. Kal Kotecha
0 Comments|September 18, 2019

Call it a dream, stupidity or mere eventuality but a year or two ago when gold was hovering between US$1150/ounce and US$1200/ounce, I spoke about my prediction that gold may hit $2000 US/ounce within a few short years. At this year’s PDAC conference, during my interview with SmallCapPower, I was asked again about this and I basically reiterated that we have not reached the 2-4 years timeframe yet when I first predicted it in 2018. Interview: https://smallcappower.com/videos/videos-top-stories/gold-price-silver-kal-kotecha/

But reassessing, we may see gold hit $2000/ounce before the time period I thought. The world seems to be in a tailspin on many fronts and gold is one of the huge benefactors and the silver lining is of course…silver! The “poor man’s gold” is generally rising higher on a percentage basis than gold which means to me that we are in a secular uptrend for both metals, especially silver in percentage terms.

Many people seem to be talking about gold again. Just a short time ago many investors were on the cannabis bandwagon, well c’mon aboard the gold train, it should be quite a ride! My mom even said she is following the price of gold…now that tells me that gold is starting to become a household name once again but there still is a way to go.

Now, the million dollar question, what about junior mining stocks? In 2010/11 we last experienced the rise and peak of junior mining stocks but this time it’s a bit different. During that time, the economy was coming out of the great recession and starting to boom. Currently, I believe we will be enetering into a recession where the major markets may experience declines. But that doesn’t mean that specific  junior mining stocks, especially the ones that specialize in gold and silver will not rise - but will they experience the euphoria like we saw in 2011? I know that I would rather be in junior mining stocks than in any other sector of the market and particularly in junior mining stocks that hold a lot of potential. The wind finally seems to be blowing at the back of precious metals pushing it forward and it may only be a matter of time before junior mining stocks feel the breeze.

The next few years could prove to be exciting times for both precious metals and precious metals stocks. Isn’t this the time we all have been waiting for?

Happy Investing!
