Larry Reaugh, President & CEO of American Manganese, shares how this company is recycling lithium batteries. American Manganese owns a disruptive technology that is going to benefit the recycling of lithium ion electric vehicle batteries. The problem is that when the battery is spent from electric vehicle, this is a lithium ion battery. It is classified as hazardous waste. It can't go in a dump. It can't be stored somewhere. It has to be dealt with. Right now the major way of dealing with them is to smell them, just burn them up. Get some of the cobalt back and the rest goes into slag. That’s not economic; it's not good for the environment. So what we have is we have a circular economy, we can recycle and we should be able to get up to a 100% of the cathode materials and turn around and resell that powder back to the battery manufacturer. We are working off a patent that we developed for mining of low grade manganese. We've taken the concept to the proof of concept stage; we know what works. We don’t have to go out and dig them up, we take delivery of the batteries and we run them through our recycling. For more information on
