Philippe Cloutier, President & CEO of Cartier Resources discusses how the companies main focus is exploring for gold in the Abitibi Greenstone Belt.
“Our main focus is gold. Exploring for gold in the Abitibi Greenstone Belt, the Quebec portion of it. Discovery is a tradition there. We focus on Brownfields Projects and Legacy projects. Projects that have proven endowment, projects that have ounces in the ground and our strategy is to take that and add value to that through exploration. Our flagship project is the Chimo Mine Project. It sits on the Cadillac Fault, just a 30 minute drive from the Val-d’Or mining camp. It’s got a shaft down to nine hundred sixty five meters. We’re going to continue drilling with Phase 3 that’s going to be focused essentially on our new 5NE discovery which is just 450 meters from the shaft. And we’ve just completed a two phase drill program with a total of about one hundred and five ton drill holes for a total of about 50,000 meters of diamond drilling. We’re then going to initiate our resource estimate from all the past drilling that we’ve done and hopefully monetize the value we’ve created for our shareholders; Agnico Eagle that owns 17 percent of our shares, JP Morgan that owns about 9 percent. We set out to find more gold along the Cadillac extension and we believe that will reward our shareholders in the short term.” – Philippe Cloutier, President & CEO of Cartier Resources
