NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Dec 23, 2013) - World Moto, Inc. (OTCBB: FARE) (OTCQB: FARE) (BERLIN: WM7) (BERLIN: A1J8SY) ("World Moto" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that the Eastern Asian Society for Transportation Studies (EASTS) has just published a study that highly recommends all motorcycle taxis be equipped with meters. Changing the way the world goes around, World Moto is a global authority on the $500 billion dollar motorcycle taxi industry and inventor of the Wheelies and the Moto-Meter, the world's first motorcycle taxi meter.
The Eastern Asian Society for Transportation Studies is an umbrella organization consisting of transportation science societies from 13 East Asian countries including Australia and New Zealand. The constituent societies boast representatives from governments, major academic institutions, and industry leaders in the transport sector. In addition to an annual periodical, they also host bi annual conferences which are regularly attended by as many as 1000 transport specialists from around the region.
The paper by Tuan et. al. was published in the Proceedings of the Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies, Vol.9, 2013 and concentrates on the policy considerations of motorcycle taxi services in Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries. A primary focus of the study is to highlight the inefficiencies in the existing motorcycle taxi industry, and the paper explains that many of these can be addressed by adopting the Moto-Meter™. In addition, it mentions many valuable enhancements that can be offered through innovative service models, such as World Moto's Yes service. The study concludes by stating that it is "highly recommended that motorcycle taxis shall be equipped with meters to solve the problem of complicated fare negotiation."
Paul Giles, CEO, stated, "We are greatly pleased that our technology has been recognized and mentioned by name in such a prestigious publication, and in a venue that has such high visibility with transport specialists and government ministers throughout the region. This is precisely the kind of independent credibility and analysis that government agencies use to formulate policy, for instance, when they consider legislation mandating the use of the Moto-Meter."
