I personally don't agree with them getting big golden rewards for non-performance or outright failure but Acreage was built in much the same way as Canopy Growth was.
It was a huge endeavour, with a ton of work to put a MSO together, especially in a country where what they are doing is illegal at the Federal level.
It was a huge leap of faith and not without stumbling blocks for MSOs and potpreneurs but they relied on the Feds letting the individual States to administer their own justice.
That is a risk that non US investors deem too high and want marijuana derisked at the Fed level before they jump in with both feet.
Acreage's shareprice is a result of the Murphy company handsomely rewarding itself and Murphy himself is insider buying since the first milking. What does he know or believe????
Canopy is still the world leading pot company, making efforts to do business in the huge US marketplace and bringing a ton of experience, brands and IP to the business. Part of that business is making inroads, legally, into the US with branding deals to allow US capable companies to produce our brands and sell them to leave Canopy once removed from touching the product which would cause you to lose your NYSE listing. They deaked that one by delisting on the NYSE and going to the Nasdaq which has worked very well. There is huge volume being traded on US exchanges of Canopy Growth and Tilray from US investors, funds and bankers. So much so that some of these Non US companaies might control more shares than Canadians which I guess, would make those companies.........American????!
Acreage Holdings is destined to be CanopyGrowth USA division or the big financier might exercise their influenceand monetary might and put it all under the Constellation Brands umbrella.
This matter could be settled with some new bills being passed or one State at a time as is the will of the people.
One thing for sure that I see is that it is going to take financial backing and I believe that Acreage and Canopy and their other interests have that from Constellation to whether whatever storms are stopping the sunshine from coming through.
